Buggrit

Published by Hexe under Rambles

Another post disappears into the ozone. I'm seriously considering an alternative site. This is the 3rd time in a week this has happened. Of course I could just do the posts in something else but that rather defeats the purpose.

Off to do some research because this isn't meant to annoy, it's meant to be a pleasurable thing to record events, stuff, progress etc. and that's rather not happening when posts go into the void.

Buggrit. Millenium hand and shrimp.

Edit: Doesn't that just figure. This managed to save. The long one didn't. Gah!

What a week…

Published by Hexe under Rambles

…between DNS problems and being busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest too much time has gone by without being here. I'll be rectifying that today and tomorrow with updates on projects and blatherings. Too, I want to make sure that the problems with Wordpress (at least I think it was with them, sent 'em a Feedback and never heard another word about it) which manifested with being unable to publish anything (along with loss of what had been written…grrr). So, here's hoping.

Happy Beltane & May Day

Published by Hexe under Miscellany

The lyrics from Camelot of the song "The Lusty Month of May" always come to mind on this day. They bring back fond memories of childhood and, with each passing year (and there have been many by now) an kind of rebirth, a milestone of the year, if you will. Winter is finally well and truly past and Earth is showing off. This song celebrates it from a rather frisky point of view…I love it:

Lusty Month of May Lyrics

GUENEVERE:
Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear!
It's May! It's May!
That gorgeous holiday
When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad
Will be a cad!
It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!

Whence this fragrance wafting through the air?
What sweet feelings does its scent transmute?
Whence this perfume floating ev'rywhere?
Don't you know it's that dear forbidden fruit!
Tra la la la la! That dear forbidden fruit!
Tra la la la la!

GUENEVERE & CHORUS:
Tra la la la la [etc.]

GUENEVERE:
Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That darling month when ev'ryone throws
Self-control away.
It's time to do
A wretched thing or two,
And try to make each precious day
One you'll always rue!
It's May! It's May!
The month of "yes you may,"
The time for ev'ry frivolous whim,
Proper or "im."
It's wild! It's gay!
A blot in ev'ry way.
The birds and bees with all of their vast
Amorous past
Gaze at the human race aghast,
The lusty month of May.

CHORUS:
Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear.
It's May! It's May!
The month of great dismay.

GUENEVERE:
When all the world is brimming with fun,
Wholesome or "un."

GUENEVERE & CHORUS:
It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!

And Germany decided to go along with the whole theme of winter being past. It is sunny, warming up and an altogether lovely day. All the apple trees should soon be in bloom, things have greened up considerably and we're on to the march to the Summer Solstice. Let us hope it is not another summer like 2003 where we all melted especially now that I've gotten The Burrow almost done under the eaves. I should not like to have to choose between melting and having easy access to all my fibre stuff.

And speaking of whimsical, watched Charlie & The Chocolate Factory last night. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. I'm not a particular fan of Tim Burton but this movie had me so enchanted that I actually (gasp) put down my knitting to watch it. Johnny Depp was perfect, so quirky, so bizarre, so vulnerable. Story was good (I never had read nor seen any previous iterations of the story) and despite being somewhat predictable it was a really fun movie.

Therefore little progress to show since I was engrossed. Today I am mucking out the main office and treated myself to Bacon noodles and mushy peas for brunch thanks to being able to import food stuffs from the U.K. I'm relatively sure that TTS won't be touching the leftovers so I'll be able to feast again this evening. Noodles for him (which should make his Schwabian tummy quite happy).

Been knitting a bit on another towel and working on the Boucle From Hell shawl. This is going to be a true testiment to my stubborness dutiful determination to finish something. I have no idea what I will do with this bloody thing when it's done. I may just staple it to a wall as a reminder that when I do set myself to something I can finish.

Dishes and floor mopping await. Bugger.

Make some mistakes today in honour of The Lusty Month of May. :-)
